The Navy Reserve offers individuals the opportunity to proudly serve their nation part-time as they secure brighter futures for themselves. If you are a Navy veteran or a veteran from another military branch, the Navy Reserve allows you to advance your civilian life and career as you reconnect or stay connected to military life. If you have never served before, the Navy Reserve lets you experience the pride of protecting your nation as you enjoy many military benefits and advantages.

Basic Service Requirements
As a military veteran, you can join for periods ranging from two to six years and you can extend your Navy Reserve contract up to an additional four years. For individuals with no prior military service, an initial eight-year commitment is required.

Traditional service requires a minimum of one weekend a month drilling and two weeks of Annual Training. However, for those who qualify, flexible drilling options are available, including serving on weekdays or fulfilling your annual commitment in one single, extended mission.
